Welcome to the Corvallis Blog! My name is J.D. Roth, and I’m new to Corvallis.
I was born and raised in the Willamette Valley, but my girlfriend and I didn’t move to Corvallis until September 2021. We’ve been here for eighteen months now, and we love the town. The people are great and there’s tons of fun stuff to do.
We’ve found it difficult, though, to find a good central source for info about the city. The Corvallis Gazette-Times has some info, sure, but it feels less like a local paper than a national paper. The Corvallis Advocate feels more local but lacks a personal touch. (Besides, both of those outlets cost money.) I like the free Corvallis Happenings group on Facebook but it tends toward chaos! So, I’ve decided to create the Corvallis website that I wish existed — a sort of blend of all three of the above.
My aim with the Corvallis Blog is to help others get to know the city as I get to know the city.
I’ll review restaurants. I’ll talk about events and activities. I’ll share favorite hikes. And favorite beers. I’ll explore some of the city’s history. I’ll share hidden secrets (when I find them).
Basically, the Corvallis Blog is a chance for me to document all the cool stuff I discover in town and to share it with other folks who might be interested too. If you know something cool about Corvallis, let me know so that I can share!
